My Fair Lady (1964): audrey hepburn did an amazing job! how shocked was i to find out she wasn't even nominated for an oscar. granted, i think this was the year that mary freakin poppins won best actress, but to not even be nominated and to think there were 4 other chicks better than her blows my mind. and she sang like a beauty (although i read the songs were dubbed over by some other chick singing, but for the sake of my review lets assume she sang it all). reminded me so much of our old buddy arianne. she'd walk around the apartment and have the most amazing little voice ever. never got tired of it. point it, the gorgeous hepburn was outstanding. the songs don't really stick out like other musicals, but the story is clever. the ending was kinda dumb. mr 'enry 'iggins is a jerk and doesn't freaking deserve her (sounds all too familiar). in the end, not as good as the sound of music or fiddler, but better than that singin' in the rain garbage. its long, but worth seeing.
speaking of long (no, not that, however it too is long), this top 100 greatest movies of all time is getting harder and harder to do. i swear, to get into the top 100, you need to be made prior to 1970, be at least 3 hours long, and star 1 of about 6 actors from that time period. just got another movie yesterday that is 201 minutes!!! where do i find the time? do you realize all the things i could do in 201 minutes?? like for example, take up the trumpet again.
yes i said it! take up the trumpet again. hear me out before we start ripping on band. i loved playing so much even though i now realize how sucky i was. i could get so good if i tried hard. plus, i was thinking about it while walking down the halls yesterday, and what do you know! some jazz band was playing outside at the school. kinda walked behind them to see how hard the music was and i could totally play it, well, i could 4 years ago. i don't know. just think it might be fun. not saying i'm ready to pop on a uniform and go marching once i get to law school, but it would be fun.
so after the jazz band got my brain swirling, i run into matt (queer from my drugs class, queer who came over last week). he's got petitions that he's getting people to sign to impeach the student body peeps for letting michael moore come. the kid is a good kid, but he started to get into it with me right before class about the whole mess. i could have squashed his little ego so bad and showed that little sissy the light, but i had to get to class for my exam. so all you petition wielding, ultra right-wing faggots can eat my ass (or suck my butt as others say). get over it already. he is gonna come, no one will get impeached, and you will just waste your time when you could be getting ready to see the forgotten in theaters this weekend!!! its gonna be good!
my exam went well though. i'm sure i missed a handful, but nothing too life threatening. jessie did well too i think. and at least now, she'll never forget what norris v. alabama is all about. today is family law. i'm screwed on this one. in fact, i don't even know where my family law textbook is. crap i'm screwed.
